What are the attributes for the Hi-Point firing pin springs.

I have read in another website about a cartridge firing while cycling live ammo due to the firing pin being use to eject a live round. This seems probable but unlikely since pressure and penetration is based on the speed and psi of the firing pin hitting the primer.

A typical firing pin spring has the following attributes.

- Protrusion should be about 0.055" (.040 to .060 acceptable)
- Firing-pin spring pressure about 20-25 pounds.
- Firing-pin penetration should be about 0.020".

I have cycled live cartridges through my Hi-Point pistols and not had any discharges during extraction. Has anyone experienced this premature discharge during manual extraction?

I've also dried fired live rounds through my HP too with no ill effects. I have read somewhere about a guy doing the same thing and it when off.
After that, I haven't had the urge to do it.
I'm no expert and don't know for sure if it would go off, but it does seem possible.

I have cycled a few times live through a pistol to check ejection issues. Not my favorite way, but had to be done. Most I've ever had was a scratch on the primer, but you can never tell when the springs would fail and lock the firing pin forward enough to strike. Accidents do happen and things do fail, so I don't temp fate.

Yeah, I know. I used the wrong words. So, if I may correct myself, I also have cycled live rounds through my HP. I hope I didn't confuse anyone with my quick post. Thank you Broom for setting me out like that.

IMO this could happen but what is probably happening is some1's finger is on the trigger, they pull it at just the right moment and blame it on cycling the action. men and their macho pride...

i try to own up for the things i do. i shot myself (in the leg, in 1 side out the other, missed major arteries/bone/nerves and i'm ok minus a few fragments left behind).... now i could say i was cycling live rounds and it went off, however i was just young and dumb and had my finger where it shouldnt have been.

again this is all my opinion and should be counted as such...

Just wondering why your rounds were wet in the first place? But you answered before I could make my funny (err, smartass) comment.

Don't blame Broomstick for you being 'out'. You outed yourself quite a while back.

When I clear live round, I turn the gun ejection port down, pull the slide back slowly (damn, this is soundin sexy  ), and the round clears. I think there could be a problem if the slide were to be pulled completely back with the same force and speed one typically uses then chambering a round.

Ok, being outed and setting someone out has different meanings.
Oh, yeah, I could make fun of you for misunderstanding something, like is done to me or I can just tell you the meaning.
When you set someone out, you jump on their mistakes or actions.
I'm sorry that I ask questions about guns and make mistakes that I could easily Wikipedia and make myself look sooooo smart. I choose to ask questions and learn from my mistakes. I wasn't born a gun smith like some of you guys. This is why I always try to make the announcement that " I'm no expert."
It's all good though.
Anyway, I'm gonna be me, I don't try to make myself something I'm not. Everything I've ever posted is the truth, shit even my avatar is me. There is no deceit in anything I do.

Oh, I figure, being a Ranger and all. I made it a point to tell my dad, who was a Ranger, about you.
I did apply for the Rangers and I did make the mental tests, but I needed 18 more months in the Army to proceed to the physical tests. Because I was a dip shit as a 21 year old kid, I chose my EX-WIFE over a career. I wish I'd had just gave her the boot, but this is 20/20 hindsight. Lol.
Good job bud, you did something I can only wonder about.

You're right Walt, as always, I don't think I'm being picked on. Really a person can only be picked on in person, that wouldn't happen. I was just trying to show how I wouldn't screw with someone over a typo.
I'm all good. Thanks bud.

See, around here, anyone will screw with anyone over anything ... at any time.

Just one big crappy family!
