Hi guys, piggy bank has gotten to the point where it needs some emptying and I'm torn... Had my mind set on an SA XD40 Tactical for the longest time, and just about bought it, but when it came time to plop down the cash I got to thinking I cllkould get a new 995 AND JHP45, or just 995 and tacticool it out to the max with $ left over for ammo... Point is, I can't decide now.
Anyone care to comment?

Are these calibers that you already own or adding a new one? Right now it's all about the ammo.

Have 9 and 45 pistols. Do not have 40, hence wanting to go XD. Do not have pistol caliber carbine, hence wanting to go HP. Purpose for new addition is just for range toy.

.40 is one of my favourite calibers. Generally pretty available at decent price, much more torque! ( ;0 ) than 9mm, and overall an accurate round.
Lots of weapons available for them, lots of different types of rounds. For me .40 is the most versatile hand gun round.

An added plus, if you ever get into reloading, the .40 bullets are the same ones used in 10mm. 10mm is leaning towards the cannon
end of hand gun. Versatile!

I do reload, in fact I initially was looking at a G20. But the issue (real or imagined) with unsupported chambers, along with some other things turned me off the Glock. The main reason I was considering 10mm is because for a range toy, I like to "feel" my guns. I wasn't interested in the other platforms that shoot the 10, but in my experience, I found a lot of 40's to be even snappier. So that, and the fact I can use the same dies to reload for 10 if i ever end up with one, made me lean towards the "short & weak"

I agree with ISP, the Lee reloading dies will work on .40S&W and 10mm. Saves money in the long run...... both are good rounds with the 10mm being a heck of a carry round. Plus you can buy bulk .40 projectiles and they will work on both calibers.

BTW, I have not noticed any bulge in the 10mm brass out of my G20 glock.

You've got the right idea -- just the wrong combination.

Nor have I on either the G20 or G29.

Finally decided on the SA, just hit send on the order... Me happy!
Thought I'd try out a new brand, and just couldn't resist the black on OD :)
Now the waiting game begins... Up here its the random number of days it takes to register a handgun, and then Canada Post has to get it here from the other side of the country (they're usually pretty good though IMHO)

While we're all waiting for your box'o'joy to arrive, could you start a thread and give us the low-down on what it takes to be a gun-owner in Canada?

I'm curious about licenses and the requirements to get them as well as restrictions on gun types, barrel length, mag capacity, calibers etc. Believe me, there will be a group here asking for the most minute details. Many of us are worried about our government's love-affair with control and would like to know what they might see elsewhere to try and bring here.
