Hi everyone I'm new to the board so forgive me if you have covered this before. I was looking around the net at some 995's, I saw some with barrel shrouds but I haven't found any for sale. So my questions dose anyone know were I can pick one up? I am also curious if a shroud from storm will fit a 995. Thanks y'all!

If you can't get to Bushman, or if he is sold out, you can also go to Ebay...mold99 and some others do parts; decent stuff and prices so far.... :thumb:
There's also a guy at the other forum selling shrouds for $25. No holes/vents, but...?

Thanks for the input every one. I checked out Bushman's web site and my wish list got a little longer. I also stumbled across a web sit with some at o'dark thirty last night. http://nortje.com/cgi-bin/online/storepro.php an outfit called Morese Lekker, there getting like $50 for shrouds but they look decent, any one have any experience with them? Good luck and good shooting to all.

My new one looks exactly like the vented one on that site! I got it for $30, used...except he never used it.
The set screw looks like it is brass..I guess that makes it less likely to lock up over time, but it also makes it a little soft.
Other than that I like it a lot!

Moerse lekker shrouds are top notch. The brass set screw is so it doesn't leave an indent in the barrel, brass is softer than steel. I had issues with mold99 a long time ago, he was selling his wares on ebay as in stock but did not have them made, it took over two weeks with not great communication and even some name calling at me on his part until I let him know I would be giving feedback and reviews of his product and service on the forums, then he changed his tune real fast and his wife, yes his wife, sent me a small refund to compensate for the poor service. His shrouds are decent looking but not as nice as the lekker ones IMO. I sold my mold99 shroud and kept the lekker. FYI, there is also an easy way to make the original 995 heat shield a top heat shield on the 995TS and it looks pretty darn good IMO.

This project took about 1 hr total using a metal cut off wheel on an angle grinder, grinding wheel, a dremel and small hammer. I cut down the 995 classic heat shield and left some room for fitting. I formed two tabs for locking into the foreend.

Image

I then test fit to see how much material I wanted to grind off, then shaped the two tabs.
Image

I then put two narrow slots into the foreend of the stock after test fitting and marking where the tabs would insert. The slots actually are about 3/8 inches into the foreend and ended up going all the way through (which makes no difference, it actually made it easier for a reference point)
Image

I also slightly bent in or crimped the heat shield so that it press fit onto the barrel and also provides additional stability. Then loosen the front sight and pull out slightly, fit the two rear tabs into the slots (you want to slowly take material off the tabs so the fit is nice and tight against the front sight), press fit onto the barrel and using the original single tab that fits under the front sight replace the front sight and tighten set screws, viola you have now made a mock heat shield (this is a mostly cosmetic modification because the heat shield is in contact with the barrel and therefore will conduct the heat of the barrel).

I still need to clean up some of the plastic shavings Cool
Image

I think it adds a bit of flair to the front end without having to spend $40 on a shroud Cool You could make two shorty heat shields from one classic shroud if you mess up on your first attempt.

HAPPY MODDING!

Oh, I also added some Ape grip to the buttstock for a more comfortable cheek weld Cheesy

"Cheap" is always a plus in my book. But I also like the ingenuity. ;)
